Shep
Hi!  I am Shep, the founder of "Shepherd of Hope Christian Chat & Chronic Illness Support" Ministry, Inc."  After years of bouncing from one chat room to another (finding that most closed after just a few years) I prayerfully found myself setting up Shepherd of Hope.  This has been an enormous source of blessing to me, even though the plan was to bless others!  I have been privileged to carry this responsibility for the Lord and have witnessed many people giving their lives to Jesus, many hurting souls choose LIFE over suicide and hopelessness, and spend time daily with people who are home-bound or looking for fellowship.

Below you will find a picture of my sweet dog, Butchie who now resides with my best friend.  He was allergic to the factory across the street, but now swims and has a great time in his new home.

I currently live in Northern Michigan, but only the Lord really knows what the future holds... I hope to write a book one day - my life has held many pains, but I believe the faithfulness of the Lord through it all will be the subject of my book.  I pray Shepherd of Hope Christian Chat & Chronic Illness Support Ministry will live on for a very long time!!!

♥ I love you all!  ♥ Shep ♥

Ann Van
I am 53, married, and have one son who is 21. I enjoy singing with my  husband while he plays guitar, writing, watching movies, and various activities at my church. One of these is a support group I started 2 years ago for the chronically ill, which is still going strong. I  like to make greeting cards as well.

The handsome man next to me is my husband, Sam. We have been married 24 years.

Carol_K
My name is Carol Krejci. I am living in the Lancaster, Ohio area. I lived in Santee, CA. for the past two years and hope to return to the San Diego area in 2013, the Lord willing, traveling back and forth between Ohio and San Diego as often as possible. I retired after 40+ years of working as an RN and raising 4 wonderful children. I have 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandsons. My spare time is taken up by visiting family and friends, scrapbooking, singing with a barbershop group, cake decorating (sometimes), reading and especially writing stories. My joy is based on knowing Jesus as my personal Savior. Most of my writing is devoted to glorifying Him. I have written a couple books (Sowin’ Seeds and Touchin’ Lives and Israel, My Personal Journey, A 40-day Contemplative Devotional). I have also written a meditation booklet for Health Care Givers. Being part of the SoH Chat Room has been a huge blessing to me; I’ve made enduring friends here, friends who will last a lifetime and beyond.

Beth & Bob Cottrill
live in rural Saskatchewan, Canada. We spent many years in pastoral ministry here and in Ontario, and Bob also taught in a Bible college. We have one son, who, along with his wife and two young kids live in Mexico City, beginning a church planting ministry there. I'm involved in music and enjoy encouraging women. I also love making cards and scrap booking. I'm excited about a new ministry of writing devotionals for Rest Ministries and have been blessed in Shep's chat room many times. I'm also very fond of animals and miss having a dog in our home.

Butch
I know you are wondering how I got on here.... after all, I am a dog... but I am not just any dog, I know the founder, so she let me slide this photo in here.... besides, I am the one who keeps my mom company while she talks on the computer all day!  Not that I am complaining - she tells me every time one of you thinks I am cute!  So, keep the compliments coming...
I was born in January 2005 and I had a LOT of siblings -- I think there were 14 of us all together! I also have chronic illness - am allergic to lots of stuff - especially my mom's house. I love the water, I am trying to become a famous dock jumping dog, and I love going for walks and chasing snowballs!  I wish I had some children to play with, so I get very happy when my 'human' sisters come to visit me at mom's house.

I was adopted to a new home in Summer 2008 and am very happy now because my allergies are under control.  I go swimming with my new daddy, Steve, and we hike and do all sorts of fun stuff together and since Steve married my mom's best friend -- my mom still sees me on occasion! I am doing really well and we are all very happy with the new arrangements!

Lukla
I’m 33 and live in the UK.  I love climbing, kite buggying, surfing and, well, any sport that is high risk.  I am a support worker for adults with learning disabilities; I love my job so much I couldn't do anything else. This picture was taken in Nepal the day I arrived and was the day I lived my dream to trek to Everest Base Camp.

Lynn
I live in lush green Washington state. I began my teaching career here in 1965 and retired in 1992. Most of those years were in the elementary classroom but I also spent two years in Washington, D.C. with the VISTA program and two years at Seattle’s PBS station co-writing and producing series of educational programming.  Since retirement I have been able to travel a bit with my favorite place being the home of C. S. Lewis in Oxford, England. I lived there for one week as part of a study group. I am on a writing team of Rest Ministries.  I am currently writing a devotional book, words of encouragement for those living with chronic illness.  This effort will be accomplished via God's direction and grace!

Baggzy

My proper name is Elsa, I am a 43 year old single mother of a beautiful daughter who is now 17.  My  daughter is studying social care in college. She's either out with her friends, at the gym or swimming. She does occasionally spend time with me.  We live together with our two cats, Bracken and Tinkerbell, in Perth in bonny Scotland in our little God-given house.  I love being in the garden,  listening to music, have an eclectic taste in films, like drawing and trying to paint although haven't done so for a while. I need to get back to it!

I also love watching rugby and "shinty" -- a rough, rough, Scottish  game..  I am quite a 'mad' person as people say I have a weird sense of humor - (goes with the rest of me).

Alice & Dan
live in Dayton, OH.  We have 6 children between us, 14 grandchildren, and 1 great-granddaughter.  Alice facilitates a Hope Keepers group, and Dan is her co-facilitator.  Alice is blessed to be able to be a wife and homemaker and enjoys reading Christian fiction as well as using chat from time to time to talk with others on-line.  Dan is an engineer, and Vice President of Dayton Gear Company.  Our greatest joy has been serving the Lord together for the past 18 years.

Free2BMee
My name is Shelby, or "Free", and I currently reside in Canton, Ohio.  While I am not married and have no children of my own, I am the godmother of two precious little boys, Elijah and Isaiah.  I also have four dogs (Molly, Buddy, Rusty, & Lucy) and two cats (Midnight & Mischief).  I am currently in college studying as an Intervention Specialist major (Special Education).  I am a Kindergarten / First Grade Sunday school teacher for my Church.  I am also part of a trio called New Generation, so music is one of my passions, from singing to playing an instrument.  As well, I am in the process of writing a book giving a testimony of God's goodness and mercy with all that He has brought me through.  Everything I do is to serve and glorify Him for all the blessings He has given me and the ones He will grant me as my future goes on!

Chris
Grace & I have been married for 9 years. We enjoy music very much and I sing in a semi-professional men’s choir for the last 11 years. Shepherd of Hope family means a lot to me and I really appreciate the times when we are able to chat and encourage one another in the things of God! This past year has been a year filled with many challenges but through it all God has been showing us that we need to trust Him through the good times as well as the challenging times. Proverbs 3: 5-6. Blessings to you all!

Mal
Hello all! My name is Mallory. I'm 19 not married and haven't even dated yet. I'm holding out for that man God intends for me to meet. I have faith that one day He will bring us together. I write letters to my future husband. I think one day he will really appreciate them and I'd love to look back and read them when I'm an older woman. I love art and photography. I'm going to college for fine arts/studio arts. I feel that I can express my self through art and painting. I hope that as people look at my art and photos they will feel the love of Jesus and know that this art was inspired by his love, suffering, and forgiveness for me. He was beautifully broken for me, and I thank Him for it.  Everyday I strive to grow closer to my Father, and that's what I hope for as I spend time on this site.

ThereIsHope
Saturday, January 16, 2010 ThereIsHope went to be with the Lord.  She was 40 years old, a wife, and mother of four boys.  She has touched the hearts and lives of so many here at Shepherd of Hope and we will miss her dearly. ThereIsHope (Hope) was a co-moderator in the chat room since it began 2 years ago.

"This I recall to my mind, Therefore I have hope. Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. "The Lord is my portion," says my soul, "Therefore I hope in Him!" The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, To the soul who seeks Him. Lam. 3:21-25

"Hope. What a powerful word. Hope is what sustains me daily. Hope to see my Savior. Hope to see my children grow up happy and healthy. Hope to find a balance for my mood as I am bipolar. I could go on and on, but I am sure you get the point. If I have no hope, then I have nothing at all."

Rest is peace, dear sister - I look forward to meeting on the other side where there will be no more sorrow, no more illness, no more pain.  I love you... Shep

Yorkie
Friday, June 11, 2010, Yorkie went to be with the Lord.  She was just 39 years old, but battled years of illness following a gymastics accident that damaged her brainstem.  She has been a long time user of Shepherd of Hope Christian Chat and never complained -- just encouraged others and prayed for everyone.

She loved her 4 dogs (a yorkie of course) and a cat and her baby 'catie' was even allowed to stay in the hospital with her as she spent so much time there.  Her kind heart and joyful and humorous personality will forever be remembered.

I first met Yorkie 2 years ago, and got to know her, her mom, Katie, and her doggies.  It was a true privilege to spend time with her on several occasions and to represent Shepherd of Hope at her funeral on June 15, 2010.

Rest in Peace, my dear sweet, sweet little sister!  Until then... My love to you, Shep
