This is the only one of my lifhthouses that is NOT a Michigan lighthouse. The picture shows a gated area, the actual lighthouse doesn't have a gate, but does have a second staircase between the large building and the lighthouse tower.

Another favorite for a couple of reasons. First, I grew up in Detroit, so this was near my hometown, and secondly, it is directly across from my sister's cottage where I have spent 10 days a year on r&r many times. We drove the boat out and around this while I was there one year.

This is one of the most beautiful and larger lighthouses that I have. And, since it is near where I live, I have been to it on more than one occassion. Grand Traverse Lighthouse is located in a beautiful park where I have written in my journal as my children played in the sand and water.

You may recall that my daughter lives in Marquette, making this another special piece for me, but the beautiful RED of the house is much deeper than this photo which gives almost a plum look. It's red! This is also one of the larger houses.

This is another large lighthouse and for some reason, all of the photos I could find of it are colored with the roof in red -- it's actually black - making this almost entirely black and white and VERY stricking! I have noticed that most of these lighthouses are 'retired' now, so it's possible that since I have purchased mine, some of the lighthouses have been repainted.

ITEM # 9
Well, if I had to say I have a favorite, this would be it! Well, only if I HAD to pick just one! Mackinaw City is only about 1 1/2 hours north of us, and I have spent so much time there. I have eaten on the lawn at this lighthouse location and seen this lighthouse, by far, more times than any of my others... perhaps that's what makes it a favorite!

This lighthouse is located on beautiful Presque Isle where my daughter was recently married, up in Marquette Michigan. It is also shown here with a black room, but the one I have has a red roof -- and I don't mean like the hotel! Presque Isle is a most beautiful place - you can drive the 6 miles around the island in one direction only, with turn-offs to see beautiful scenic views -- even the one where my daughter was married! This lighthouse keeps lookout over Lake Superior, along with the Marquette Harbor Lighthouse which I also have posted on here.

Round Island is an adorable little lighthouse that is located just off shore of Mackinac Island. When you ferry across from Mackinaw City, you go right past the lighthouse, so again, I have seen this one many times. This picture makes it appear more plum, but it is a lighthouse red in real life and on this statue.

Tawas Point lighthouse is another beautiful statue of the protective and majestic lighthouses located around the Great Lakes region. Tawas Point is on the Eastern side of Michigan - a little south of where I live.

Old Mission Lighthouse is located on the penninsula that goes north of Traverse City. I have been to this lighthouse many times and this photo does not do it justice! It almost looks 'panelled' in this picture, but it doesn't look that way in the statue or in real life. When I think of Old Mission Lighthouse, I think of a wonderful drive up the east side of the penninsula, then a leisurely drive home on the west side to enjoy the sun setting! Out at the end of the penninsula, you have to take off your shoes and dip your feet into what becomes Lake Michigan (at the end of the Grand Traverse Bay).

This beautiful necklace with a gold/orange (we believe this is an AGATE but don't know for certain) stone with black coloring in the stone in on a 24 inch long gold-toned chain. This German Collector's Plate is a true find... I have added a brass pedestal to turn it into an adorable serving plate. The plate is one of a series - I will post the English translation of what is on the bottom of the plate below. This would be an adorable way to serve cookies, candies, or other treats (tea party plate!). It stands 4" tall and is 7 3/4" across the plate.
The inscription is in German - this is the English translation:
Plate Number B-16773 from a limited edition of "Monday", the first Taller In the series "The Ferienwoch Kappelmann" of Detlev Nitchske family. The authentic presentation of the familienausflugs in Berlin Zoo on 20. August 1894.
